Senior IDAC investigator accuses Andrea Johnson of misleading Parliament’s ad hoc committee

On Friday, Mantsha Raphesu told the Madlanga Commission that Johnson presented a whistleblower report, which she claimed the National Coloured Congress leader, Fadiel Adams, submitted to the IDAC.
A senior Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) investigator, Mantsha Raphesu, said the unit’s former head, Andrea Johnson, presented false information during her testimony before parliament’s ad hoc committee on police corruption.
On Friday, Raphesu told the Madlanga Commission that Johnson presented a whistleblower report, which she claimed the National Coloured Congress leader, Fadiel Adams, submitted to the IDAC.
In Adams’ whistleblower report, known as a Section 27 referral, he alleged that luxury vehicles and hotel accommodations were paid for using secret service funds.
Ramsamy and Raphesu said Adams’ report focused extensively on the PKTT’s alleged abuse of the secret service slush fund.
But Raphesu said he was shocked when Johnson later presented Parliament with a different document, claiming it was Adams’ official whistleblower report.
“I was watching when Andrea Johnson was presenting at ad hoc. There was a point where she indicated that the PKTT was not part of the Section 27 referral. I was shocked because the Section 27 that I saw, that information was there.”
As further allegations have emerged against Johnson, the commission has asked her to respond to the new claims.
